What a thrilling match at Lumen Field! The Seattle Sounders emerged victorious, defeating St. Louis City 4-1 in a hard-fought contest.
The Sounders, playing at home, controlled much of the possession (57%) and generated significantly more shots (29 to 7). They certainly used this advantage to put the pressure on. Key moments included a penalty goal by Albert Rusnak and another by Obed Vargas. A substitution by the Sounders, Georgi Minoungou, seemed to spark a shift in momentum, while the away team’s late changes brought on a final push of effort.
St. Louis City, despite playing well in stretches, ultimately couldn’t match the Sounders' offensive firepower. The team also had some strong plays from their substitiutes. They did manage to score a well-taken penalty by Marcel Hartel.
The Sounders approach was clearly to control possession and exploit their home advantage. They showed excellent team play, with several great assists. St. Louis City, meanwhile, looked to counter-attack and were rewarded early with a goal. It was a true test of will, and the Sounders showed incredible determination to come out on top. It was an action-packed game with several substitutions and yellow cards. An exciting match for the fans!
