# Portland Timbers 4 - 2 San Jose Earthquakes
What a dramatic finish to this Major League Soccer clash! The Portland Timbers edged out the San Jose Earthquakes 4-2 in a thrilling encounter at Providence Park.
The Earthquakes started strong, taking a 2-0 lead in the first half with goals from H. López and A. Pellegrino. It looked like San Jose were heading for a comfortable win, but Portland showed incredible resilience.
The second half was a whirlwind of action! The Timbers pulled a goal back through J. Rodríguez in the 80th minute, setting the stage for an exciting finish. They scored two more penalties, one by F. Mora in the 74th minute and another from J. Rodríguez, just past the 90th minute mark. San Jose's Bruno Wilson received a red card in the 71st minute for handball, and while San Jose battled hard, they couldn't overcome the Timbers' late surge.
The most exciting moments were undoubtedly the late flurry of goals, including the pivotal penalty decisions. Portland's approach seemed to be a mix of patient buildup play, combined with exploiting chances when they arose, particularly in the second half. The Earthquakes, while playing well in the first half, seemed to lose their composure and confidence as the game wore on.
A truly memorable match for the fans at Providence Park!
