The Portland Timbers and San Jose Earthquakes battled to a 1-1 draw at Providence Park. Both teams played a gritty, hard-fought match, with exciting moments and a heavy dose of yellow cards.
The match started with the Earthquakes taking an early lead in the 24th minute with a goal scored by J. López. Portland, however, responded strongly. In the 45th minute, the Timbers fought back, with F. Mora scoring the equalizer for Portland.
The second half was filled with substitutions and substitutions and lots of action. Both teams pressed hard to find a winning goal, but the score remained 1-1 until the end.
Both teams employed a cautious but aggressive approach, with a focus on possession in the first half and then shifting to a more defensive strategy in the second. Portland seemed to dominate possession in the final 20 minutes or so but had more shots outside the box. San Jose had a greater percentage of accurate passes.
